In-situ product quality control:

It’s important to determine the moisture content of aggregate prior to mixing, because it helps determine the precise quantity of water needed for the mix to achieve the desired water/cement ratio (w/c ratio).

The HD2® Hand-Held Aggregate Moisture Meter overcomes the challenges posed by the traditional moisture measurement techniques such as oven-drying or kiln drying – none of which are consistent or accurate. The drying methods utilize a small testing sample (around 500g) and provide results in 30-40 minutes. This method is vastly affected by the stone size as even one larger stone in the test sample can throw off your results by as much as 10-20%!

With the HD2® device, the QC officer or site engineer can obtain moisture readings of construction aggregates in under 5 seconds directly on-site! The meter measures three most important parameters – volumetric moisture (%), temperature and conductivity. Furthermore the device automatically averages out consecutive readings to minimize measurement error.
