Our patented TRIME® system offers a selection of proven probe configurations for accurate site survey, depth profile and continuous data logging. The HD2 Portable Digital Soil Moisture Sensor is used for monitoring volumetric moisture in soil and other porous materials in both large and small volumes.

Examining soil moisture delivers the necessary knowledge to adopt and implement tactics to lessen damage due to shortage in rainfall. Also to determine approaches to enhance the management of natural ecosystems with the underlying risk of climate change.

Importance of soil moisture measurement in agriculture: Soil moisture operates as carrier of essential nutrients for plant’s growth. Soil moisture also plays an important role in regulating soil temperature. Moreover, the yield of a crop is more often defined by the quantity of water available rather than the absence of other essential growth nutrients. Therefore accurately tracking soil moisture content on a regular basis is very important for growers, farmers, and crop scientists.

Did you know that the HD2 Moisture Sensor is extremely versatile and can be used on various other materials as well such as minerals and aggregates? Learn more here.

The HD2 moisture probe is designed with an easy-to-use interface so that any one, regardless of technical background, can use this device quickly with ease. Our TRIME moisture sensors use Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) to determine dielectric properties of the mixture to determine the volumetric water content present in it. Our TDR sensors deliver far superior performance compared to conventional capacitive moisture sensors. For instance, a capacitive sensor operates within 5MHz to 80MHz frequency range, as opposed to 600MHz – 1.2GHz TDR frequency, which leads to large soil salinity effects on the readings.
