With Seztec HD2® portable aggregate moisture meter, you can accurately measure the volumetric moisture content (%) directly in your stockpiles of construction aggregates, including sand, gravel, crushed stone, grit and other fine aggregates up to 1 -1/4″ size. Control your product quality on-site!
Our moisture sensors utilize patented TRIME® TDR technology that creates a strong measuring field which penetrates deep into a large volume of material, resulting in highly accurate and repeatable moisture measurement values. It’s important to determine the moisture content of aggregate prior to mixing, because it helps determine the precise quantity of water needed for the mix to achieve the desired water/cement ratio (w/c ratio).
The HD2® Hand-Held Aggregate Moisture Meter overcomes the challenges posed by the traditional moisture measurement techniques such as oven-drying or kiln drying – none of which are consistent or accurate. The drying methods utilize a small testing sample (around 500g) and provide results in 30-40 minutes. This method is vastly affected by the stone size as even one larger stone in the test sample can throw off your results by as much as 10-20%!
With the HD2® device, the QC officer or site engineer can obtain moisture readings of construction aggregates in under 5 seconds directly on-site! The meter measures three most important parameters – volumetric moisture (%), temperature and conductivity. Furthermore the device automatically averages out consecutive readings to minimize measurement error.
